ABOUT TK DEVINE

This is the heading

I was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida, studying at the University of Florida before passaging through rites to manhood in Chicago. I was a studious Chicagoan, earning a Master's at Northwestern University and graduating from Second City's Conservatory before leaving to Los Angeles. I currently live there in my DIY tiny home on wheels.

I am all about challenging norms on housing. Much of my work centers on alternative housing and intentional lifestyles.

My writing began with my blog The Office Hobo and has since been featured in Salon, Yahoo! Finance, Business Insider, MSN, L.A. Weekly, The Good Men Project, and Dapper Dan Magazine, The Pen Name, and the 2016 book anthology Turning Tiny: The Small Living Paradigm.

I was a keynote speaker at the 2016 Tiny House Jamboree, the 2017 Living Simple: A Tiny House Expo, the 2018 People's Tiny House Festival, the 2018 Florida Tiny House Festival, The Louisiana Tiny House Festival, and the 2019 California Tiny Living Festival, as well as a speaker and showcase presenter for other festivals and organizations like Teach For America and LA Mayor Eric Garcetti's Engage LA.

See the FILM page on the linkbar for my work on various shows and projects, from travel webseries to tv show pilots on intentional living to films and documentaries on society and culture. My films have been awarded and nominated for everything from Best Feature to Best Documentary and Best Cinematography at globally recognized festivals like the Atlanta Film Festival, DocFeed Netherlands, Docs Without Borders, and the San Francisco Documentary Film Festival.

See the PRESS page for my interviews with ABC, Upworthy, Fusion TV, CBS, Fox, NBC, The Penny Pincher, WGN Radio, Business Punk Magazine (Germany), KBS (Korean Broadcasting System), KIRO Radio Seattle, America in the Morning, W Radio (Latin America), and others.

In my past life, you may have seen me in various commercial ads or performing on various stages for scripted and unscripted shows. Or from the press related to my nonprofit, Our Backyard Homes, aiming to house homeless college students in our off-grid urban micro-homes. I've also volunteered countless hours with LA's Midnight Mission and Pay It Forward for a Better LA.

For fun, I enjoy playing guitar (poorly) and spending time in the wilderness. My favorite trip was a solo 46-mile trip in the Grand Canyon, trekking from one side to the other and back again. I likes cats and dogs. And chocolate. Especially chocolate.
